First time at In-N-Out Burger
I have been living in California for almost two years now but I had NEVER been to an In-N-Out Burger, despite being a huge burger fan. Yesterday, after watching two friends, Aaron Schweifler and Brian Sterz, complete the Vineman Ironman (140.6 miles!!), a bunch of us stopped at an In-N-Out on our way back to the city.
To find the nearest In-N-Out, all you have to do is call 1-800-786-1000 and tell them where you are - they will direct you to the closest one. I was completely amazed at how crowded this place was at 10:00 at night, in northern Marin county. I was instructed to order “off-menu” (or from the not-so-secret “secret menu” (http://daviswiki.org/In-N-Out_Secret_Menu). In-N-Out’s secret menu includes the popular Animal Style burger, which I got. I looked up why it is called this….random fact: it was named for Southern California surfers who flocked to the chain in the 1960s and were labeled animals by the clean-cut In-N-Out staff.
In N Out’s founder, had a motto to “Keep it simple; do one thing, and do it the best you can.” I’m a fan and I’ll definitely be back…but next time I’ll get my fries “well-done.”
And a huge congratulations to Aaron and Brian! You guys are amazing and I’m so glad I got to see you at the finish….
